St. Francis in the Wood, in partnership with Har El Synagogue, is excited to present Streams of Light: Exploring the Tapestry of Jewish History, a captivating four-part series led by Rabbi Philip Gibbs.

This series invites participants to embark on a journey through the history, culture, and faith of the Jewish people. Each session will shed light on pivotal moments, influential figures, and the evolving relationship between Judaism and Christianity.

Session Highlights:

Week 1 – February 4: Foundations of Jewish Identity

  • Explore the origins of Jewish faith and identity, including stories from the Torah and early Jewish life. This session will provide insight into the shared roots of Judaism and Christianity.

Week 2 – February 11: Jewish Life and Practice through the Ages

  • Gain an understanding of key rituals, holidays, and cultural traditions that have sustained Jewish communities worldwide. Learn how practices such as Sabbath, Passover, and Hanukkah have shaped Jewish life over centuries.

Week 3 – February 18: Moments of Intersection: Judaism and Christianity

  • This session focuses on historical interactions between Jewish and Christian communities, highlighting periods of cooperation, conflict, and mutual influence. Discover how these encounters have shaped modern religious dialogue.

Week 4 – February 25: The Jewish Experience in the Modern World

  • Reflect on the Jewish experience in contemporary society, including the challenges and opportunities of Jewish life today.
