At our vestry meeting in February 2018 St Francis parishioners committed to raising $50,000 a year, in addition to our regular operating expenses and social outreach, for five years to build up a Major Repairs Fund with a view to replacing the church roof.
At the start of the pandemic in March 2020, and with visible deterioration in the roof - including loose flashing falling off, the church Trustees gave the green light to re-roofing while the church was largely unoccupied. On June 23rd the re-roofing began. With the help of generous matching donors, we quickly reached the amount needed to pay for the roof . Fundraising however continues in order to replenish the Major Repairs Fund for future needs (ongoing donation details can be found here). The new Penfolds Eco-Roof™, manufactured from re-cycled rubber tires, was completed on July 25th.
