Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!
Philippians 4:4-5 (The Message)
Friends,
This Sunday we turn a corner together. We turn a corner from the darkness and ending into the light and warmth of an arrival. An arrival which lights up the world, both physically and metaphorically.
It's no mistake that this Sunday also known as pink Sunday, or Gaudete Sunday- after the Latin for rejoice which comes from Philippians, is very close to the solstice. A moment when the world regains its light and perhaps, its hope.
What I find so interesting about this return, both of the physical and metaphorical light and hope, is an invitation to celebrate. To celebrate not just for ourselves, but to celebrate with others. To celebrate with others for who they are, as fellow reflections of the divine hope and light in our midst. An incarnated spark of life. What an amazing gift!
Join me as you can on December 18th as we gather, at the invitation of Rabbi Philip and his community, to celebrate the coming of this light and hope as they illuminate their community menorah. Together with Rev. Simon from West Van United, I am honored to light a branch of the menorah as a symbol of hope returning back to the world.
So celebrate this week, friends. Celebrate, revel and let loose, God is coming and nothing can stop Him now.
See you Sunday!
Blessings,
Alex+
