So here it is! Our first attempt at offering a “remote” worship experience from St. Francis-in-the-Wood. It is not perfect by any means, but it is something. It’s a start. We are on a steep learning curve, and I’m sure we will be trying different things over the coming weeks…
It our hope that this will offer a focus at least for our community to come together, even while apart, and offer our prayers in these uncertain and perilous times. Despite how serious we look at various points, Alecia and I had a lot of fun making this! Perhaps we should release some of the outtakes!
We are grateful to my friend Nicholas Miller for technical assistance with camera, sound and production (including editing). Our music director Caitlin Beaupré has contributed some beautiful musical items which I feel sure will nourish our souls. We are also grateful to Penny Mitchell for commissioning and making available the footage of the exterior and interior of the church shot by Oleg Solodchenko.
If you would like to join in the Collect please download or print the PDF document below. Also please join in the Psalm if you would like to. I encourage you not to follow along with the Gospel passage but just to allow yourself to watch and listen as I seek to present it to you.
As we go into the coming week, let’s continue to keep in touch with each other – by phone, email, on Facebook etc. Many in our parish have by now been called as part of our “phone tree,” others have yet to be called. But if you are sitting at home and would like a conversation with another human being, don’t wait to be called – pick up the phone and call someone. I am sure they will be glad to hear from you.
In the meantime, stay safe and healthy, keep calm, be brave, and watch for the signs!
Angus Stuart, Rector
