Angus Stuart arrived in Canada from England in February 2005 with his wife, Christine, and children, Aaron (born 1990) and Anna Mae (born 1993) to become Rector at St Francis.
For the previous nine years he was Senior Anglican Chaplain at the University of Bristol and before that was Curate at St Mary-the-Virgin, Twickenham in the Diocese of London. He trained at Cranmer Hall in St John's College, University of Durham. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Geography and Theology and a PhD in which he studied people's experiences of ageing and environment.
For a number of years Angus has been involved in the Thomas Merton Society of Great Britain & Ireland and is currently a member of the Thomas Merton Society of Canada. He has organized conferences and presented papers in the UK and Canada and has edited two volumes of papers from the UK Merton conferences.
Other interests include a passion for jazz and blues music, Jack Kerouac and the Beats, and hiking in vast empty places.
