The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. For those who lived in a land of deep shadows—light! sunbursts of light!
Isaiah 9:2-3 According to the Message By Eugene Peterson
Friends,
How do you find your way home each night? Sure, a slightly rhetorical question, but an honest one. How do you find your way home each night? For me, I know almost unconsciously how to get home. So much so that I can probably do it with my eyes closed.
I ask the question because Christmas is a moment of homecoming. As we travel and receive guests, plan and decorate, festoon and wrap, we prepare for the arrival of something really special. The birth of love at Christmas, a birth we know as Jesus. A birth which brings us home to our truest selves, as people of community, love, and compassion for all of God's creation.

Over advent we have been waiting, wondering, praying, as we looked for the sparks of light that are leading us home to love this Christmas. Sparks which have culminated in this moment, this moment of transcendent light and warmth which emanates from the very center of who we are here at St. Francis. A place which is our shared home this Christmas. A home which is ready to welcome you, your family and friends as we gather to celebrate, sing, pray, and give thanks for the gift of love made real in Jesus Christ.
Join me this Christmas, as we follow the light home. The light which leads us to the living heartbeat of Love which is God. A living heartbeat which is open to all people, without exception.
All are welcome, yes- even you!
