Friends,

Palm sunday is a strange day. Its the intersection between real joy and deep pain. It is the day when with the same voice we cry Hosanna, only to turn around and scream “Crucify Him!”

Which is more than just a story we have heard for years, perhaps already knowing how the narrative ends. Rather, I thinks a story about today as well. We live in a world where one moment we can welcome our neighbour, and another we can desire their downfall.

The stakes have never felt higher, our families security may have never felt more perilous, and yet- we have been here before. We have been here before in the way I often think Jesus was carrying the same worries, the same laments, the same heart wrenching decisions on his heart as he entered Jerusalem. Perhaps wondering, like we are, how am I going to make it through this.

Palm Sunday is the start of the hardest week of our lives. I say hardest because its the realest, moving from joy to sorrow, light to darkness, desolation to hope, death to life. It is a week in which we live out our lives. A life which is hungry for hope today.

Come and walk this road with me, as we seek this living hope together.

I’ll save you a seat.
